FE "Ambassadors"
Dec. 20th, 2011 06:47 pmSo, Nintendo came up with a way to reward the suckers loyal customers who bought the 3DS prior to the price cut. They dubbed us "Ambassadors" and gave us free downloadable NES and GBA Virtual Console games. One of the twenty games chosen as a reward was... FE8.
So my shiny 3DS has a magical copy of FE8 on it now, which I guess does lessen the sting of backward compatibility issues. I thought about playing it, then remembered what slow going the first few chapters are and played LoZ: the Minish Cap instead. As to why they chose FE8 over FE7, you've got me, but I was actually a little bit pleased by the decision. It could be a way of introducing people to Fire Emblem without having the whole tactician thing be their initial experience. OTOH, if they think world maps, grinding, and monsters are what Fire Emblem is about, then they're in for a... oh, wait, FE13 has a world map, doesn't it? Interesting.
I'm still pissed we never got translations of the SNES Virtual Console games, though.
