Fic Updates in General / Musings on That Guy With Too Many Names

 First off, happy birthday to sacae !  I guess you're a fellow Leo.  Not that it means anything, natch.  It's Mick Jagger's birthday, too-- does that creep you out?  It kinda creeps me out to share a birthday with Madame du Barry, all the more so considering RoV.

Anyway, up and posted Chapter Two of "Dark Sun of Desire" on ffnet at last.  I guess I'm in a bad mood or something, because I've been flinging myself against that one, "Trinity," and the Hector/Lyn WIP in one frustrated burst after days of not writing a thing.  Hector/Lyn thing is now titled "Safe" and if I'm not restrained it'll be about 10K words.  I hope it maxes out well short of that, yikes.  Dunno why I'm in the mood to write something from Hector's POV, as he is most definitely Not My Type.  Maybe it's just the contrast from my usual set of characters.  Also, I like the black cloud of doom hanging over his head.


As for Nyna and Camus (speaking of black clouds, ow), I guess part of my interest in attacking those 'fics once more comes from the light that FE12 apparently sheds on the character of, ah, "Sirius."  Who seems to be a pretty unpleasant head-gamey kind of guy from the stuff that shimizu_hitomi  has translated.  He did seem that way in FE3, but there wasn't quite enough to go on for me to feel comfortable writing "Sirius," and now I feel a little more comfortable with it.  I dunno.  "Zeke" is my favorite of the personae belonging to Mr. International Man of Mystery; he comes across as someone capable of having decent human relationships.  I like to imagine a nice functional relationship between him and Alm, for instance (see: "Namesake"), whereas "Sirius" has a decidedly odd relationship with the Grust twins (leaves without saying goodbye to them!) even though they're apparently his main motivation for being back in Archanea.  

I was also kind of stymied how to portray the dynamic between Sirius and Marth; they have to come across one another at some point in the war, given they're in the same damned army-- and it's Marth's army, so Sirius is following orders whether he wants to or not.  For someone whose character in all its forms is so wrapped around duty/loyalty to an extreme (even warped) degree, dealing with a commander he doesn't a) feel patriotic loyalty toward, b) feel personal loyalty toward and c) probably doesn't like very much, or at all... has got to be a weird situation for Sirius. FE3 gave me nothin' to go on regarding that whole mess, and FE12 gives... more nothing, as far as I've seen.  So I have to conclude that they pretty much avoid one another for the duration.  Which makes complete sense on one level and is very, very weird on another.  I was really hoping that FE12 would have some scenes between Sirius and the Peg Sisters, given they've encountered him in BOTH previous incarnations, and I didn't get that either, but the scenes with Sirius and Belf at least give me something to work with (and I'm sure Hitomi will translate these with utmost love and care  :D )

Anyway, now that I have a better sense of "Sirius" I can make some headway on chapters 3-5 of "Trinity."  And maybe finish chapter 2 in the bargain.

And yes, Leo. Rawr. ...Now that you mention it, yeah, that's creepy. I think some good people share my birthday, though. Y'know. People I actually like. But I can't recall them offhand.
