Um...
Okay. Yesterday, after recruiting Julia, I was about to send her off to Velthomer to collect the Naga tome while everyone else started luring out Dark Lords. I wanted to see how Arthur'n'Tinny would do, I wanted to see how Ares would work against them when not dead, I wanted to see if Patty could get another kill in, and I wanted to make use of Awareness!Del and Nanna one more time. But since I was faced with yet another lull in the action, I decided to go through everyone's stats to record them for comparison purposes.
Welp. While transcribing Ced's results, I accidentally "defrosted" a save state from this playthrough's Chapter 3. One moment I was looking at Ced, the next I was looking at a Lvl 17 Briggid in Agusty Castle. I don't use save states on this emulator for Mac 'cause they are notoriously unreliable, and here I'd managed it by accident at the worst possible time.
So, yeah. Everything I've done in this PT and two others since August is gone. I think the worst part is losing the stats on the Gen 2 kiddies after working so damn hard at it. I've already restarted a new game file to make up progress in the other breeding experiments, but dammit I hate losing data.
In summary, though...
So... on to the next round, I guess.

The opening phases (Edda and Dozel) of the Final chapter are pretty easy if you have a well-rounded team and a few Res tanks (Ares and Seliph with their holy weapons do nicely). Everybody did great there, and then it was time to split up and have some units deal with the Beige Ritter while the rest went north toward Freege.
I had a lot of fun with Sharlow and the 'Zerk staff. A lot of fun. Many of the enemy stave users had low RES compared to his capped MCG and so he was able to make them put their allies to sleep. Fun times. With a good competent Patty capable of raising more dosh to fix the thing at 30K a pop, he used it four times total. Not bad. I liked Sharlow. Laylea had to be kept off the front lines but was great for endless refreshes of Restore and Libro. She got to about Lvl 22.
Lex!Tiltyu kids kind of served their main purpose mid-game when no one else had promoted, especially Arthur. That MCG stat was just so bad that he couldn't do what I needed him to against Hilde or the Weiss Ritter. He did make a damn good chokepoint wall against Hilda's army of barons. As for Tinny, sometimes Continue activated... and sometimes it didn't. One crit often wasn't enough.
Holyn!Patty is love. Holyn!Faval started having accuracy issues against the Beige Ritter, though. Maybe it's just Faval sucking.
Finn!Lester performed respectably against the Beige Ritter (took out Andrei after Patty roughed him up) and was generally a big help right up to when Ishtar and Friends showed up. One big plus was he almost never actually got hit by anything. Finn!Lana was the magical equivalent of a glass cannon with 27 MCG and a mere 8 RES, five points down from a Lvl 30 Midayle!Lana last time (who had 21 MCG, btw).
Alec!Raquiekids were all right. Del didn't kill a lot on the final chapter, but he wasn't dying all over the place either. Nanna was pretty useful but hampered by low RES and low MCG. Like Lex!kids, she peaked earlier on in the game.
Jamke!Ayratwins did well in combat but were held back by lack of horsies, especially apparent this time because Arthur and Leif got mounts so early. Hell, even Shanan didn't hit Lvl 30.
Lewyn!Furykids were the usual. Ced was my main man for Sleep and Silence stave abuse. I tried to hold back on the Forseti abuse this time but the staves were invaluable.
Ares made a good RES tank but he just can't take that many hits. -_-
Seliph kind of struggled until Tyrfing time.
Altena did almost nothing the final chapter once the assault on Edda was done. Leif was a million times more useful than his sister (Tornado! Arrows! Rescue Staff! Weapon Triangle mastery!)
Finn was more useful than I expected against the Dozel and Jungby knights because of that 25 STR, while Oifaye was mostly relegated to supporting Fee. Basically after Ch 7 I allocate a Horseslayer to Finn and leave an Armor Cutter on Oifaye and they both can generally kill stuff through the capture of Freege. I've never gotten Oifaye past Lvl 23 even with trying to use him, whereas Finn is usually riding an overkill level lead thanks to Gen 1 favoritism and they end up being about the same.
No, I didn't use Hannibal this time, either.

Date: 2013-12-09 10:23 pm (UTC)Thanks for sharing your stat results with this batch of kidlets. I was really curious of how the Jamke/Aira twins would turn out and it looks like fun skillset, but hampered by no horse as always.
Finn definitely looks like he's one of the better fathers in terms of skills and rounded stats.
Comparing the playthroughs you've done so far, which are your favorite combinations for each kid?
(I know you like mechanical results of Finn/Tiltyu for instance)

Date: 2013-12-09 10:45 pm (UTC)At least Aideen and Ayra offer some Ch 1 downtime, and Tiltyu and Briggid are easy-peasy with a Ch3 speedrun. It's Raquesis, Sylvia, and Fury that cause problems, and I don't feel he offers Furykids or Sylviekids anything that'll make it worth my while. Sylviekids already have Miracle and Furykids get Pursuit from mum, so eh.
Comparing the playthroughs you've done so far, which are your favorite combinations for each kid?
The key file that got deleted was the Holyn/Aira, Azel/Raquie, Finn/Briggid one, which kind of pissed me off. I'm replicating it now.
Continue and Pursuit, stacked, really help on Fee when she's slinging around the Fire Sword I allocate to her. The pair of skillz was nice on Ced but needed on Fee.
Luna on Patty was helpful, I must say. Didn't help Faval a damn bit, of course. Holyn!Faval really could've used that extra... something.
Lana and Lester actually almost never used Miracle the way Arthur and Tinny did; they just outright dodged. But "not dying" was sufficient to please me!
Elite on Corple and Leen was a good thing to have if you're going to breed them by mistake!
The downside to Wrambush babies was if, say, Tinny failed to kill with the first crit, she wasn't guaranteed a second and she was likely to die on the counter. I had to be extremely selective in deploying her. And then Arthur had such awful Magic he often didn't kill with the first crit. In mid-game, it was VERY fun. In Endgame it kind of sucked.
Have yet to get some truly useful skills for Del and Nanna. Bargain was nice for the Earth Sword and Awareness saved Nanna's bacon against a Ch 10 boss, but other than that...
All the damn kids need Pursuit, dammit.

Date: 2013-12-10 12:03 am (UTC)Sounds like Alec's Nihil or Dew's Bargain are some of the best assets for Faval skill-wise, even if they don't fix his low Skill. Although as a sniper he'll probably get good use out of Prayer...
I really wish I knew where to find the patch that makes Sword Skills inheritable and useable by all, that'd really up Dew and Holyn's usefulness.
Sometimes I wonder about skillsets on those two. Since I've heard some players have trouble when Lana activates Charge with an enemy and gets herself killed.
Sounds like you really felt the lack of pursuit and low magic on these two. Did either of them have a magic ring? Some have told me that helps, but...
I made a Finn!Delmund once, and I had to manage him like Jamke!Lester in that they could both die pretty easily and had a hard time killing things. Course that was my first playthrough and I don't think I ever gave him a good A rank sword to play with. (Finn!Nana was just fine, but I was stupid and let her keep the Prayer sword)
The last two sound very interesting, in both mechanics and headcanon.
Are the other pairs decided? Anything crazy like Lex/Aideen?

Date: 2013-12-10 02:02 am (UTC)Yeah, that's giving me pause when it comes to pairing Aideen and Beowulf. Is a better Lester worth that?
Did either of them have a magic ring? Some have told me that helps, but...
Tinny had the magic ring, which gave her a respectable MCG stat and upped her chances for a one-shot kill. I want to say she was 19 or so-- roughly on par with Finn!Tinny-- before getting the ring. I had to give the other one to Ced so he could Silence Julia effectively. Arthur was stuck with a shit-tastic 13 in MCG. (My Finn!Arthur had 18 before scoring the Chapter 10 Magic Ring).
Course that was my first playthrough and I don't think I ever gave him a good A rank sword to play with.
Del needs good weapons. Full stop.
The last two sound very interesting, in both mechanics and headcanon
I am intrigued by Magic Sword Raquiekids. Loved Dew!Nanna with a Wind Sword, and this pairing gets them both Pursuit plus a promoted Azel can pass something down to Del. As for Finn/Briggid, their "love before first sight" growths amuse me, FE5 makes it deliciously horrible, and I've seen beastly little Finn!Pattys around the internets.
Are the other pairs decided? Anything crazy like Lex/Aideen?
IIRC Lex is the worst thing you can possibly do for Aideen's kiddies.
No, this is what I wanted:
Tiltyu/Lewyn (I may regret this)
Sylvia/Alec
Fury/Claude (Fee may regret this)
Was gonna go with Aideen/Beo and then said, "Screw it, use Midayle."

Date: 2013-12-10 04:55 am (UTC)Don't Beowulf and Midayle have the same skillset? Pursuit and Charge? (I've not paired Midir before, so I can't attest to any Charge-deaths)
I've heard the magic boost on Nana is pro, and that Delmund comes out balanced good with a magic sword or regular.
Because of the lack of pursuit and lack of bow inheritance?
I was thinking this could be really fun (and I'll be trying it for early Forsetti) I just how the skill set doesn't hurt Arthur and Tinny too much.
She'll need a strength ring and the lack of no new skills sucks, BUT that higher level in staff will make her the most mobile healer.

Date: 2013-12-11 01:35 am (UTC)Yeah, but Midayle has two advantages over Beo. There's the Hero Bow, which is debatable if Lester's gonna suck endgame anyway, but also Beo has 0 growth in Magic and Midayle has 5. Midayle/Aideen produces a really good Lana, and Finn/Aideen produces a good Lester in the long run and gives Lana that fabulous 5+ boost when difference in her MCG stat is immediately felt. Beo means an long-term investment Lester and a less-gifted Lana who might suicide on the enemy. Hmm.
Because of the lack of pursuit and lack of bow inheritance?
And the SKL. Worse than what Midayle provides and Midi's not great in that department.
