My number one wish for this character.
Be prepared for a long blank stare if you ask me about, say, Fiona, though.

Damn, what is this ugly blonde staffchick that everyone is drooling over? I hear this game has a great plot but all I'm seeing is characters fapping over this fugly chick. They should've called it Genealogy of Dudes Who Want to Bang Adean or something.
What I think of their design.
In-game: SUUUUUUUUUX. And how.
Artbook: SUUUUUUUXXXXXXX
TCG: Better but incredibly bland. Chick in white robes with long blonde hair. That's it. Closed eyes and an aura of "saintliness" to boot. Zzzzzz.
What I think of their role in the story.
Well, as the damsel in distress that gets the plot moving she does OK. Also apparently a good source of child care but since she's left offscreen in Gen 2 we don't get to see that. Aideen is saved as a character by her rare flinty moments, and even those are implied-- dragging her feet upon capture, starting off as a knight become choosing to be a nun, and so on. There seems to be things below the surface. But overall, she's kind of a poster child for the shortcomings of how women are portrayed in these games. Capture bait in part one, and a benevolent offscreen presence in part two while the menfolk charge back into battle. We have ONE surviving female character confirmed in FE4 and she gets left in the convent. That says it all, man.
What I think of their interactions with other characters.
Um... onscreen or in my head? Onscreen she's best with Sigurd and Ethlyn, I guess. Her romances are kind of gross, but at least the Claude one is really WTF gross instead of just the undercurrent of unequal ick in her relationships with Midir and Azel. And don't get me started on the nonsensical "pairing" with Finn as related in the Lana conversation. Makes good kids but LOL, no.
My favorite aspect of the character overall.
She has an awesome twin sister.
What could have been improved or changed with regards to the character.
Y'know, I liked her in what I read of the Fujimori Nuts manga. She seemed like a brave young lady worth fighting WITH and not just fighting OVER. Looked pretty cute there, too. But overall, less Men Drooling Over Aideen and more Aideen Kicking Ass would've been nice.
My number one wish for this character.
Huh. Well, it'd be nice for her to reunite with Mr. Aideen but I'm pretty sure he's dead, so that's out. But she has the opportunity to find Briggid (again) and see her kids and in-laws and her niece and nephew and later grand-kids and grandnieces and such, so overall Aideen is set up for some very nice golden years as long as she doesn't live too long.
She strikes me as the type to live too long.

Date: 2013-04-24 06:16 pm (UTC)Yeah. She actually knew her father-- who seems to have been a genuinely good guy. Briggid barely knew the dude and she's all RAWR, Andrei disgraced our house, gonna kill him. Aideen just seems way too mellow over, uh, parricide and treason.
