Spent the weekend "Up North"-- as in, without internet or cellphone access.  Very restorative, especially if you like sandhill cranes and bufflehead ducks, but there was a little problem of a mold explosion in one of the bedrooms that brought back memories of the chupacabra episode of the X-files.  So clearly we have an issue there.

Color me surprised that the royal UK wedding did not inspire a single royal wedding-themed 'fic in the FE section that I've seen.  I didn't expect a lot of them, but I did expect a handful.

I guess I missed the magvel  comm deadline for the "royalty" challenge.  Just haven't been good with deadlines lately, or at least I haven't been able to write to them.   I had an idea that I'd been kicking around for about 18 months regarding Vanessa and her son, and again it just seemed like too much work to pull off.  Magvel is like that, though.  :/

My usually excellent spouse left the GameCube card with my FE9 file on it at the cottage, and we won't be up there again until Memorial Day Weekend.  Guess my plan to work on that is shot...

Do you want an extension on the Magvel thing? I could probably push it forward another month, since we didn't get many entries.

But yeah, Magvel, work. Not much fun lately. I'll just uhhh pretend like I'm actually working on Magvel things, yeah, sounds good.

This month is going to be incredibly disruptive for me, so even if it is extended, I can't guarantee I'll get it done... or anything done. Thanks, though.

I may well write a royal-wedding 'fic to fill the void. Ephraim/L'Arachel, maybe.

There are a couple of other people who got eaten alive by April, so I might just push it ahead. I'll think about it in the morning, I think. Too much crazy right now.

I'd be very interested in seeing it :D I don't think I've seen any fic of the pairing that worked for me. Then again, I haven't actually really looked, so there is that.

And also, I hope things work out all right for you this month. It seems like you've got a lot on your plate right now, and even though offering e-consolation and virtual encouragement of sorts feels pretty silly, I'm gonna do it anyway.

Ugh, me too. And one of my major plot points for a fic I'm writing contains a wedding. A royal wedding, coincidentally. Ugh I hate weddings. Unless they're the, "ILU!" "ILU2!" kiss, kiss OKAY MARRIED type deals you'd probably only find in Vegas.

I think they're generally pointless (the fluff equivalent of PWP?), but still I'm surprised to see NONE.

I dunno. I like fictional depictions of ceremonies when they're endowed with some kind of actual... spiritual/cultural signficance? Then they're interesting. When it's someone's own Vera Wang wedding fantasy with media characters, that's not so interesting to me.

I am inspired to recall the episode of The X-Files that has the team in Antarctica investigating a brain worm that causes people to turn on each other (à la The Thing). Has it been that long since the show was on the air?

And I also missed the Magvel deadline, but I may post under 'amnesty' anyway, since I got a last-minute idea that I think will be damn good.

It's been long enough that the shows have a distinct "90s nostagia" vibe. Makes me feel old.

I was actually pretty surprised by the lack of wedding fic as well. Which is kind of funny because I have to write a wedding for "My Sins Won't Leave Me", and I didn't want to on account that everyone and their pet monkey would be writing wedding fic. Turned out to not be the case. (I was told to look to the royal wedding for inspiration and I said, "Uh, Altean customs are a lot different. ...Archanea's are as well." Also I really like mythology and I want to tie that in. And I have my own headcanon stuff. So when it comes down to it, the royal wedding wouldn't have helped any.)

(Never mind the fact that, as I mentioned in my comment to Manna, I absolutely hate writing weddings.)

I have the opposite problem--I have the memory card for my Gamecube, but I can't find my copy of FE9. And here I was getting ready for another Fire Emblem kick...

I have to admit, this made me LOL.

(Those things are annoying though, and one of my LJs got hit with five in one day and suffice to say, I was not happy about it at all because I can't access that account anymore (lost the password, lost access to that email account--the emails get forwarded to my gmail only half of the time, etc.) and so getting spammed by their spam because of notifications was just not making me happy.)

I'll confess actually, that despite the royal wedding being a huge thing over here - at least for all my family - I didn't really care. It just kind of... I just get ridiculously embarrassed very easily, and them having to get married with that much publicity just made me feel very uncomfortable.

Actually, the fact that anyone might have been inspired to write wedding fic because of the royal wedding makes me even more uncomfortable.

Also, I am not any anon who may have expressed worries, although I must say that your comment about Russian spambots really endeared me to you.
