 Holy hell, you guys.  I'm ecstatic that FE8 has a meme that doesn't involve Gheb in any way, shape, or form, but I can't keep up with reading your brainwaves.  I don't know how you all post that fast.

Alm would make a good bro, so it's sad that nobody's invited him to the fun.  I'm not sure Cellica is she-bro material, exactly, but she would get along nicely with Eirika, I'm sure.

Marth, unfortunately, is not capable of being bros with anyone other than MyUnit, and MyUnit is persona non grata around all self-respecting canon characters.  So Marth doesn't get to join in the fun... but he's used to that and probably won't notice.

But Alm really ought to get an invitation to the Bro-King Club.  :(

Well, seriously back when the fanwank first broke over Ike/Soren in FE10, I was all, "OK, so you're upset that Game Hero Dude is apparently making with his cute little Wind Mage Buddy. Well, DUH, that's just HOW THINGS GO."

Well, except Levin. Levin was too busy with his harem of pretty ladies to contemplate messing around with Sigurd in FE4. But Merric, Asvel, and Soren, man...

I need to play the older stuff. But I have like. 4 I'm playing at once. And it gets very confusing - especially when half the main guys use the same weapons. Mushing them all together rarely ends well.

I went into the manga knowing about Marth/Caeda and Merric/Elice, right? So I was thrown for a loop by all the sparkle-boy affection-- in particular, the part where Marth got knocked out by Gharnef's minions (in Port Warren, I think) and Merric was the only one who could wake him up. Yeeeeaaah.

'Course, in my comic!headcanon (as opposed to srsbzns!headcanon), while Marth loves Caeda very much and Merric loves Elice very much, the ladies know exactly what is going on during the guys' periodic "training expeditions," and said ladies kick back with a bottle of wine and have a giggle over it.

Manga contamination? Yep. Right from the text that gave us tactician!Matthis and I don't care.

I used to have headcanon for the anime but then I realised the anime was too much fail to try to wrap my head around properly. I just watched it for Midorikawa Hikaru. I am not ashamed.

One odd thing about the anime is that some details in it do seem to gel with later developments in the canon. Frex, in one of the many scenes that Caeda is bawling Marth out, I think she mentions having put extra effort into cooking that night? (I think he was trying to skip out on dinner, but I'm not rewatching it to find out.) And then, come FE12, we find out that Caeda can cook.

Now, were the anime developers privy to legit designers' notes from the games, and these details surfaced later in the remakes, or were Ascended Fanboys who enjoyed the anime working on FE12?

We may never know.

Well I think their line of thinking was probably more like, "Sheeda is a girl, therefore, she knows how to cook!" (Marth wasn't skipping out on dinner, he heard people talking shit about him and his kingdom, and it left a bad taste in his mouth, so he was all :| about it and decided to leave to not be a burden, etc. etc. The fact that I remember that is amazing.)

I don't know either, but it'd be nice to find out. Maybe the anime developers worked side by side with the game developers? Or, as I said before, they said Sheeda + Girl = Cooking knowledge.

Not that all girls can cook and bake and sew. I can cook decently, I can't bake worth crap, and my hems are always crooked. My dad, on the other hand, could do all three wonderfully.
