Fic: "In That Dawn To Be Alive"

 All right!  Here is my response to sacae 's second request-- "Catria/Frey, French Revolution."  It's the canon world of Archanea, filtered through the French Revolution, with a side of Napoleon!Michalis.

Note: If y'all think this is a happy fun story, you're not up on your history.  

Anyway, as I say in the ffnet notes, most of the unpleasant details of the world come right out of Archanea canon.  King of Archanea was a dick?  Yep.  He welcomed corrupt nobles of Aurelis to his court?  Yup.  He was a bad suzerain to Macedon?  Guilty as charged.  Michalis was popular among the Macedonians for a reason, parricide or not.  A lot of other stuff, ranging from the abuse of the Grust twins to Sheema's "common touch," is adapted from canon.

As far as the stuff adapted from history goes... Jiol's role in here is modeled a teensy bit on "Philippe Egalite," and the specifics of the abuse of the Grust kiddies (and the Altean ones) is modeled on the horrors that befell Louis XVII and his sister.  I didn't go into details because you wouldn't want the details.

The appearance of Liza as Queen of Altea is based on her portrayal in the FE1 manga.  She's beautiful there.  No so much in the anime...

Also, I love Merric.  That is all.

I'll let Manna get in a review before I leave one for you at FFN. Suffice to say, it was a good read despite the heavy political era in which you've been constrained.

I actually started on that one immediately after the prompt, got stuck, wrote "Transcendence" instead, and then decided to get un-stuck. :)
