After a weird winter, spring and summer, the vagaries of weather are falling in sync with the calendar this autumn.  The first true autumnal chill blew in right on September 1st, and come November 1st I found the first sheen of frost on my car.  I guess we can schedule that first true snow for December 1st, right?

Serenes Forest has some FE12 art now, and some honest-to-Pete FE1 art, at last.

FE1!Midia.  Awww.  And here's FE BS Midia for comparison-- gives a totally different sense of the character, no?

FE1!Linda.  Something is lacking, methinks.

FE1!Nina.  This is what I mean about old-school Nina being an adult while new!Nyna looks like a girl dressed up in adult clothes.

I love the FE12 art-- not the character designs so much (though I do like many of them), but the CGs and such.  They are beautiful and evocative and, to me, communicate a great deal.

This breaks my heart.  It's called "Acension."

So does this, but for entirely different reasons.  He's so damned pretty... what wasted potential.

Haven't touched 'fic in many days.  Too much garbage going on.

FE1!Linde- Why does she look like E.T? Her face is pure Nightmare Fuel.

New!Nyna- I really like her appearance here, more so than her original look. I think it fits her character better. I agree with your observation about the "girl in adult clothes", which I think fits better with her character as she behaves at the end of FE3/FE12.

E.T.? HEH! That's a good one.

IMO, the hairline makes her look prematurely aged. And creepy.

which I think fits better with her character as she behaves at the end of FE3/FE12.

I agree. And it may be a retcon-- I don't know if FE1!Nina, or the Nina of the FE1 manga, was intended to be such a failure as a ruler (or even a figurehead), but since FE3 went and made her a failure, the little girl aspect really does work.

Plus I can ship her with Marth now.

Lololol FE1Linde. OOOOOOOHno.

So FE12 is called FEBS now? I approve. SO MUCH. <3

Hah. No. "BS Fire Emblem" refers to the Satellaview games.

But I do like the idea...

Oh, my. The FE1 versions look like chibis of the characters I already know. (Why am I suddenly so thankful that FE11 Linda really, uh, babed out? Hmm.)

We ALL are.

IMO, the FE1 designs feel more "cartoony," but clearly they owe a lot to late-70s/80s anime. Whereas the FE3 designs are more in sync with mid-90s aesthetics.

Ohhh BS art. This makes me happy because I've been curious about that for so long. *amused that Camus apparently had long hair, not so amused at all the helpless fainting Nina. Oh and the Minerva/Hardin/Palla illustrations are awesome*

Gosh Nina's had so many different designs. She definitely looks the most mature in FE1. I actually like the FE3 design best though, especially as drawn in the artbook -- that one has my favorite balance between "adult" and naive/"still has growing up to do", while some of the earlier depictions seem to focus on the weight of sadness/tragedy surrounding her which is probably what ages her in those. Updated Nyna I like too though for the reasons stated.

Longhair!Camus is a trip, yeah. I think I definitely prefer the FE11!Camus to the earlier versions (dark eyes ftw).

Marth has sexy arms.

WHAT A WASTE D:

Well, yes. The arms are beautifully drawn. The little untidy bits of hair are beautifully done. And just about every word that comes out of his mouth appears to be of no value at all.

In fact, Marth in general is beautifully done. physically. But "Blah blah blah," might as well be coming out of his mouth. Because ooh, My Unit is speaking, so listen up, pretty boy! He just hijacked your legend! So just sit there and...look pretty and

Well, here's the rub. FE3!Marth didn't have any memorable "lines" that I recall-- nothing really pithy that stands out in the memory like the comments of later Lords or supporting characters do. Frex, Eirika's "So this is war," or Ephraim's jab about how he doesn't get into battles he can't win-- something short that does actually say something about their character. FE11!Marth wasn't really good for pithy little quotes, either, because a lot of his better lines are actually rather wordy and work best in context of the dialogue, but he did have one that stood out. And it's the one they used as his profile quote on FE Wiki (the prince > son/brother one, natch), which does say a hell of a lot about his character.

FE12!Marth has a catchphrase. And it's "Let's go!"

How the bloody hell you go from FE11 to FE12 like that just defies my credulity at present.
