FE_Contest Anti-Update

So I had a solid idea for round #9 of fe_contest .  I sketched it out.  It was called "Immersion" and it focused around Lute's attempt to cure Artur of his arachnophobia with a little in vivo immersion therapy.

I really liked it.  But, I thought, "I bet someone's already done this-- it's too tempting for someone NOT to have done it."

Sure enough, a quick peek through ffnet uncovered "Observations" by aviatrix8, which even utilizes the same research-journal structure I was planning to use.  So I won't be writing "Immersion," and I encourage you to read "Observations" instead.  Though some of you clearly already have...

The idea has legs to it. Getter Robo, in fact, back in '74. Episode 2 has Hayato curing Musashi of his phobias (darkness, enclosed spaces, snakes, etc.) by locking him in a pitch-black basement room with a bunch of snakes. Old sitcom joke, IIRC. Has happened many times. Generally still funny, though.

I doubt if aviatrix8 would be offended by you posting your story, too, by the way. Juuuust saying. You could always ask!

Even if you don't write it/post it...will you be still writing about Lute for the contest round? She's one of my favorites and I'm greedy.

Don't think so. Not without a "hook." I don't really sit down to write a particular character... the ideas are more like "I wanna write Character A, engaged in action B, in order to communicate message C."

I'm afraid the same is true of my L'Arachel story, now that you mention this. How can someone not take advantage of her supports with Dozla?

You could always take a different tack - not that I have any ideas to offer, mind you.

And with such a tight word limit, it's MUCH harder to tackle the same idea in a different style.
