 I like how a newly-created character gets an extensive and personalized redemption scene while Abel and Est still go to Character Hell.

Seriously.  If IS wanted to cap off Marth's return to Altea with a whole dialogue about loyalty and absolution and repentance and atonement, Abel is right over there -->

And so's Cain.  Could've pulled it off with characters that already existed.

This is kinda like one of those Hollywood biopics where they take someone who had a fascinating life and then throw in paint-by-numbers details like a lost love or a sick child because that's what audiences expect.  The source material was promising enough and didn't need this extra crap thrown in.

Horace did it better. Not just the redemption, but the newbie crap too. Katarina sounds like a fanfic OC flirting with Mary Sue status.

Oh, it's very much like Horace. Except that Horace was an adult who knowingly sold out his country in order to save the people under his protection-- violating the letter of the law while following the spirit of a higher law. Whereas Katarina is an abused puppet-child who gets out of one cult (the bad one) by converting to a new one (as that's what Marth's fanclub essentially is).

But if they used canon character then they'd have actually had to put some thought and care into the game. Where is the fun in that? >_>

Yeah, I agree with you. It's awful. Not only could it have been pulled off with characters that already exist, but it could have been pulled off better with those characters because it would have fit better with the already existing storyline. It would have made more sense.

I want to go play Shadow Dragon again to make me feel better or maybe I'll go replay the original Book 2 again.

Yeah, well, today's playthrough post reveals that it's now MyUnit's idea to pull off the sneak attack through Adriah Pass.

Wow, isn't it nice that an amateur commander like Marth has such an experienced advisor to help him out? I mean, it's not like Marth has ever led armies up and down the continent before.
