FE12: It keeps getting weirder
Jun. 9th, 2010 11:05 pmI have a new OTP for FE12-- My Unit/Katarina!
No, not Katua. Katarina. Who's that, you ask?
Lovely
penandpaper71 brings us the latest news-- a couple of Famitsu scans promoting FE12. In addition to an inexplicably red-haired Cecil and an apparently blond Luke, we have a purple-haired chickie who turns out to be a wannabe tactician who signs up with the Altean Knights at the same time as Gary Stu My Unit. I swear, the Altean knights will take anyone these days....
[WTF "Seventh Platoon"? How many knights are there before they all get massacredagain?]
This is great, though. It means the twoOCs new characters can hook up with each other and leave the canon gang alone.
Well, the naysayers can't claim that IS is simply regurgitating ancient material this time around. Next week, I expect to learn that Tactician Katarina has a magical talking cat.
In all seriousness, I assume that Miss Kat will be the Tactician for the chapters that Mary SUenit leads.
Oh, yeah, and FE12 will have Base conversations like the Tellius games. I presume this means no time-wasting turn-based supports, yay.
PS-- I was really excited to learn there was a Shoujo Kakumei Utena video game for the Sega Saturn until I learned that the main character was some purple-haired girl who wasn't even in the series OR the film. And that the antagonist was Yet Another "former captain of the fencing team" (playing that card once was OK, but playing it twice?). This latest revelation reminded me strongly of those days.

Date: 2010-06-10 12:43 pm (UTC)As for console games derived from anime, they tend to be like movies derived from video games – that is, not too great.

And, yes. My Unit/Katarina is clearly the best pairing in FE12. They should vanish together at the end and leave the canon characters to live their lives. :P

Date: 2010-06-10 08:43 pm (UTC)We finally have Adult!Marth-- not too dorky, not too girly, and the line of his jaw demonstrates that he is finally out of the Awkward Years. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I'll definitely take this one! (But I sure hope he has some sense in his head this time.)
Meh on the designs of the Peg Sisters, though. I mean, they were fine-looking ladies before, but having them be so close to the FE11 versions is a little sad-- Catria at least should have recognizably matured. I hope Est has changed!
As for Ryan... my word, he is adorable. How old is he here, fourteen? What a darling little baby. I am doomed to use him, too.
I hope the twins are cute.

Same here. I don't care if Gordin is lousy in FE11; I like him. I use him. I felt terrible the first time I got him killed.
