FE13 Kiddie Update

So I picked up my original playthrough of FE13 (the m!Robin/Anna one) to collect all the remaining kidlets and then play the DLC I hadn't bothered with before.  This was tedious 'cause it involved leveling up AND pairing units that I'd left on the bench for basically the entire playthrough.  Fortunately there were weak-ass Spotpass teams to abuse.

Anyway, after a day spent grinding and collecting support points I managed to finally get:

Ricken!Yarne (my soul died a little for this)
Lon'qu!Brady

I just achieved but have yet to recruit Libra!Noire (yuk on that S-support, Tharja) and am one support level away from Gaius!Cynthia, though her parents need to collect some skills first.

So the complete kiddie team is:
Sully!Lucina and her accessory Chrom!Kjelle
Henry!Inigo
Frederick!Owain
Stahl!Severa
Gregor!Nah
Virion!Gerome
Anna!Morgan

And the aforementioned Ricken!Yarne, Lon'qu!Brady, and soon-to-be-added Libra!Noire and Gaius!Cynthia.  And that, I said to myself, was the entire set.

Oh no.  I forgot somebody.  I have a couple of somebodies languishing on the bench.  I never did nothin' with Miriel and thus don't have jack toward progress on Laurent.  So...

Vaike!Laurent or Kellam!Laurent?  These are difficult questions, people.  :/

PS: Those Ricken/Panne supports started off one brand of awful and concluded as another kind of awful.  And it just got worse when Yarne showed up.  :(

I actually kind of like Miriel's supports with both of them, but Kellam is probably the better mechanical choice? He can pass on dual guard+, which is awesome to have. :D

Mechanics aren't a high priority on this PT, so I went with Vaike. I prefer him to Kellam anyway. No, really.

Yeah, Kellam passes on some fairly valuable skill options -- Dual Guard+, Luna, Pass... He's got a nice class set. Vaike has Counter I guess, but eh.

Everything about Yarne is unfortunate.

Libra/Tharja is probably one of her more charitable supports, though I'm guessing you mean the Robin thing?

Yes, the Robin thing. Not funny, not cute, not in that context.

I might go with Vaike anyway since it's utterly unlikely I'll be using Laurent to a great extent in completing the DLC.

Kellam's my choice.

(Somewhat amusingly, his whole "invisible man" schtick got passed over to Han Dang in Dynasty Warriors 8, so I guess this is kind of a thing now in Japanese games. Weird, but there it is.)

Actually, Garmmy over on tumblr did a retranslation of some lines in FE4 and apparently the invisible man act dates at least back to Ardan in that game... which is why he and Kellam face off in Lost Bloodlines. The current fan-translation didn't quite get that aspect of Ardan across.

Given how far back FE4 is, the roots likely go deeper than that!

I liked Miriel's supports with vaike a lot (going on a date) but i think i prefer kellam.

however, blond laurent is toooo cute.

I've gone through several playthoughs of Awakening (by which I mean about five) and I'm starting to definitely see a lot of pairings that seem to make more sense in the context of the cookie-cutter Child/Father supports and the romantic supports. So far I've settled Frederick/Cordelia (they can love Chrom together) and Lon'qu/Olivia (shyness and personal attachment to Basilio, plus the irony of a gynophobe having a ladies man for a son) permanently into my FE:A headcanon.

And it just got worse when Yarne showed up. Yarne is easily my least favorite future!child, especially since the majority of the others are some of the best characters (personality wise) in the game.

Why the fuck does Panne/Velvet even fucking exist? Sure, the Japanese really fucking like kenomomimi, but the venture FAILED. FE9 was put next to the cheapest DVD player in the world, while FE10 was put next to a FUCKING MARIO GAME ON CHRISTMAS. The best way to go from there is to treat Tellius like it never fucking existed. Screw Americans! Just focus on Japan! Don't fucking put a Playboy bunny in our game and expect no one to care! Girls play this series, too! Give this game human characters! Don't just expect all of them to marry either Poor Man's Ike/Sigurd or a hypoglycemic thief for the crime of being a woman!
