Power Restored
Jul. 12th, 2011 07:44 pmBlackouts were easier to handle when I didn't have a laptop, a power-hungry smartphone, and a gas stove with an electric starter. Massive regional blackout of 2003? No problem. Little municipal outage in 2011? Waaaaaaah.
Anyway, the wind tore through my neighborhood yesterday, shredding venerable trees and generally trashing the place. It was very localized and apparently verged on a tornado-- the next neighborhood over just had a few downed branches. We were out of power for more than twenty-four hours (on a blazing hot day) many misadventures with dry ice and emergency generators ensued.
Um, that's it for now. My head is not in order. I was in Survival Mode and now I don't know how to spend the evening.
