Blackouts were easier to handle when I didn't have a laptop, a power-hungry smartphone, and a gas stove with an electric starter.  Massive regional blackout of 2003?  No problem.  Little municipal outage in 2011?  Waaaaaaah.

Anyway, the wind tore through my neighborhood yesterday, shredding venerable trees and generally trashing the place.  It was very localized and apparently verged on a tornado-- the next neighborhood over just had a few downed branches.  We were out of power for more than twenty-four hours (on a blazing hot day) many misadventures with dry ice and emergency generators ensued.

Um, that's it for now.  My head is not in order.  I was in Survival Mode and now I don't know how to spend the evening.

You could spend the evening building a fire doing I have no idea what. :|

That said, I wonder if that was part of the storm that hit here yesterday. It was thunder/lightning most of the day here, and it got so incredibly still out there I did wonder if we were going to get a 'nado. Luckily we didn't. Luckily you didn't, either. Dx Downed branches can be pretty bad, though.

Oh, the power's back. It came on about an hour after I finally acquired dry ice to keep the food in the fridge from going off. :P

Now I get to do dishes and laundry.

Downed branches can be pretty bad, though.

Let me put it this way-- the city says it may take 2-3 weeks to clean up the debris.

H-holy... Oh my.

We had strong winds over here, but nothing like that. Glad to hear you're okay, though.

(Also, I finally got around to reading that article, but only the one in the News. I hope they didn't misquote you in either paper!)

A house on the corner had their roof caved in by their own maple tree. We had no damage to any of our trees, which means we were VERY lucky.

Heh! The quotes in the News were sort of... redactions of things I actually said. I said those words, but not quite as presented. I expected worse, so I'm OK with it.
