Mark's Scottish Food Binge / FE4 Outtakes

mark_asphodelSo, I was running an errand for someone else in Redford Township yesterday and decided to reward myself by swinging by the local Scottish Bakery and loading up on nut tarts, fern cakes, blackcurrant fruit gums, and such. Well, this time, they had lots of imported Scottish soda.
Dandelion and Burdock soda. Dandelion and Burdock.
Got two cans in the fridge now. No, I haven't tried it yet. Yes, I will tell you all how it is.

Anyway, I was browsing earlier through the unused dialogue for FE5. I'd looked over it before and saw nothing of interest 'cause I didn't know the game well enough and I was looking for discarded scenes involving Janne and/or Arthur (no luck there).
Now, some things stand out:
1) Dude, Kempf is totally the precursor to Narcien. Ick.
2) Some surprisingly poignant bosses got left on the cutting room floor.
3) WTF is all this unused stuff from FE4 given to random FE5 characters?
After a while I realized that some of these lines from FE4 were actually exchanges, and they made a tiny bit more sense.
Carrion:
"It's your fault! Just because you're around, Levin won't even look at me..."
Selphina:
"But...I never meant to..."
OK. Carion is speaking a line intended for Sylvia here, while Selphina's submissive reply can only come from Fury.
Carrion:
"I hate you, Levin! You like that girl a lot more than me, don't you!?"
Marty:
"H-Hey, calm down, Sylvia! It's dangerous if you... Whoa! ...Swing something like that around!"
LOL @ Marty subbing for Levin. But Carion's plainly speaking Sylvia's dialogue again; I think we should be glad that crazybitch!Sylvia did not make it into the final release.
Cyas:
"I'll show you what my training has done! I won't lose today, Lakche!"
Rinehart:
"Hahaha, are you sure you didn't overtrain yourself, Skasaha?"
So we have Cyas and Rinehart playing at being the AiraTwins. Frankly, this is another bit of characterization that doesn't help either kid much.
Rinehart:
"Lord Shanan, I will defeat you this time!"
Kein:
"Sigh... You're still not good enough to dispatch in battle."
Um. I don't know if Rinehart has another of Lakche's cut lines or if this is some boss exchange for Shanan, or if the two lines are not in fact connected.
August:
"Ah, hello, Johan. ...You know, you do look strong on the outside..."
Olwen:
"......"
Huh. Not sure if these are connected either, or whose dialogue it was given to August. Lakche again? Doesn't sound it, really. I dunno.
Dorias:
"Damn, I can't cast my spells..."
Galzus:
"Azel, please don't strain yourself."
Now this is interesting. Where did this originally fit? Why can't Azel do his magic? To whom is Dorias!Azel speaking-- Lex? One of his love interests? Poor squishbaby-- sounds like he was supposed to be even squishier than he ended up being.
Leaf:
"No, Eltoshan! What reason do we have to fight?"
My best guess on this is that it was dialogue intended for Cuan in Chapter 3. He doesn't have a boss conversation with Elto, though it would make sense for him to, and Sigurd and Lachy both have extended conversations with Elto in the finished game.
Hicks:
"You're a fool, brother! If you insist on fighting, then you shall cut me down first!"
Lachy? Altenna? One of the Axe Twins? A JungbyTwin against Andrei? You've got me... a whole bunch of people need to kill their brothers in this game.
Dagda:
"Damn..."
Prolly someone's death quote, possibly a situational one instead of the "permanent" quote. Could've even been from some miniboss rather than one of the main cast.
Doesn't shed a whole lot of light on FE4, really, other than AiraTwins being boring, Sylvia being even less likable, and Azel being squishy and frail.

Some very interesting reveal
Date: 2012-12-15 01:21 am (UTC)1) Maybe FE4 & FE5 were planned to be a one game to a point(who again growth overambitious about Cartidge space?), And in both final games a lot of thing connecting each other were cut for either techical or planning(time), reason.
2) Sylvia was to be even more Clingy Jealous Girl that ever was in the final product, ironically the fanbase help the creator in that regard
3) Because Oifaye have a personality(thanks to be characther in Generation 1), The AyraTwins were planned to be Celice's Training freak( i can imagine Lackhe and Skasaher forcing celice to sparring match until the blue haired prince collapse), that explain the love who have the Celice x Lackhe Couple in Japan(Rana is not competing so much, Julia is paired with anyone except Celice, except for Incest fans)
Those were pretty interesting reveal, thanks for the sharing

Another commenter here suggested a while back that maybe Celice was originally supposed to have a proper character-development arc, and when that arc didn't fit into the final version of FE4, that arc was given to Leaf in FE5. It's an intriguing idea.

Indeed.
I do like Celice/Lakche, but the less I see of Training Freaks, the better.
