No, it's not my [livejournal.com profile] fe_contest  entry.  That's stalled out at 437 words because I got sidetracked by one of the minor characters and went off on a separate tangent entirely.

This is 100% stress-relief on my part.  I don't even know if it's good; I do know that the music I listened to while writing it (big sweeping power ballads) was irredeemably awful, not to mention a far cry from my usual diet of Leonard Cohen, John Cale, and Elvis Costello.  I guess it's technically a part of the Unified Kingdom fic-verse, as I can't see any telltale signs that it's not.  But it's a "missing moments" kind of story, and you either go for that sort of thing or you massively hate it.

OK.  Back to real work.

Another story to add to my queue of things I need to read and review. :-) And stories done as stress relief can come out to be quite awesome. Emotional intensity tends to seep into writing, I find.

Also a Leonard Cohen fan here, but the only song of his that I use for writing music is his version of Everybody Knows. Love it.

Very true, but being emotionally wrapped up in a 'fic can make it harder to determine whether or not it makes any sense. Especially if the main character is your own "pet"-- then it's Canon Sue ahoy and all that.

"... his version of Everybody Knows"

I should do a breakdown sometime of the music that "accompanies" my various stories. I was big into the album "Everybody Knows" comes from last year. This year I'm more about New Skin For The Old Ceremony and Various Positions.
