FE4 Final... Stupid Freege

Apparently if your name begins with "Al-" in one my playthroughs, you're toast.
Aless, the Black Knight, heir to the Demon Sword Mystletainn and rightful king of Agustria, got slaughtered by a falcoknight. And it was Bleg, too-- not even Maybell. And then, after finding ways to kill the other sisters and the rest of the squad, I accidentally saved and Aless is ded 4ever. Whups.
Honestly, the final chapter was kind of easy up until Ishtar and the WeissRitter showed up. Burian's assorted goons were no problem. Scorpius's peeps weren't bad either once I abandoned even trying to use some glass-fragile units against them. And Hilda's crew around Freege wasn't bad either; Arthur and Tinny dealt handily with their "dear" aunt. Altenna recruited Arion with no trouble at all, which is about the only thing she was good for in this chapter given all the archers and magic-users. If you were using sub-kids or really lousy pairings this might be tricky, but overall... not bad.
Now I'm out one holy weapon user on a chapter swarming with dark mages, AND Sety died against Ishtar even with Celice (Leadership) and Nanna (Charisma) backing him up. What the shit? If Sety had a girlfriend I guess he'd have a lover's bonus to benefit from... I guess I'll have to do something different with Fee next turn so she has his back.
And now Dew!Delmud and his bride Fin!Tinny get to rule Agustria, I guess. What the shit, people. That's not how this was supposed to go.
[OTOH, getting Hezul first cousins to recreate the major bloodline should be damn easy, given that's what their natural bent is. One Leaf/Nanna offspring + one Del/Tinny kid, and we're back in business.]

(Delmud and Tinny, huh? There's a pairing I haven't thought of. Also, random silly thought: one could shorten those abbreviations to Dewmud and Finny.
and alternatively they could be ship names)On a less cracky note, is Aless leaving a widow behind? Probably not consequential, but my brain finds itself curious. Also, when Hilda shows up, doesn't she also bring along that swarm of Barons? Or am I thinking of a different part?

Granted, I didn't see the actual numbers behind that match, and it's been a while since I've played the game, but...I'm inclined to say that outcome's not necessarily as crazy as it looks. Torhammer's boost to Skill is exactly equal to Holsety's boon to Speed, and I figure that effectively cancels the defensive benefit. Making the user untouchable is one of Holsety's Big Things, and when you take that away...

Funny how FE4 in particular tends to bring out that line of thinking in someone, huh? Gotta love that Holy Blood. =] (It reminds me of the whole "preserve the bloodline" MO behind certain RL arranged marriages, except with more obvious effects.)

Date: 2012-09-01 07:10 pm (UTC)Complete accident. I wanted Aless/Nanna and Leaf/Tinny and ended up with Leaf/Nanna, Del/Tinny, and a very dead Aless.
Aless leaving a widow behind?
Nope. I'd kept him away from Leen; I was anticipating Del/Leen, to be honest.
Also, when Hilda shows up, doesn't she also bring along that swarm of Barons?
Yes. They weren't much trouble.

Indeed!
Also makes it very obvious when someone's been cheating around, too.
