Jugdral 'Fic Roundup
Aug. 30th, 2012 06:49 pmAfter a certain point, I stopped writing notes and such about 'fic. Probably a bad sign.
Anyway, since two of my recent Jugdral-centric offerings have been translated into French by
"Without Vocation" was me working out my issues with Aideen, the way I do like to work out issues with characters I tend to take shots at (see: Nyna). I zeroed in on her line to Sigurd about how she became a nun instead of a knight in hopes of finding Briggid (how?) instead of some pure spiritual motivation like whatever it is driving Claude. Aideen is infinitely more interesting to me as a flawed, possibly inadequate cleric instead of as a gilt-and-plaster saint. Even her 2ndGen-era "retirement" is more interesting to me as a sort of defeat as opposed to just another cast of FE convent'n'orphans syndrome. Even if it does mean that, like most of the Jugdral cast, she's essentially driven by family.
"In Transition" was my non-entry to the "Crossover" challenge at fe_contest. Several things went into the compulsion to write and finish something, but I think what sparked it was that I was sitting in a conference room, in the midst of yet another crappy day and a lot of upheaval, and one of my comrades came into the room and announced that someone who should've been in the meeting couldn't be in the meeting because his father was "transitioning." I hadn't heard that particular euphemism employed before. Also a delivery vehicle for magic meta, so I guess there's that.
And then we have "The Losing End," a quartet of stories based around my sucky Azel from my longest-to-date FE4 playthrough. Features some cracky pairings and some Ho Yay with Lex. After not finishing nothin' for quite sometime it pleased me to actually complete 8K+ words of a bitter, mopey take on everyone's favorite little illegitimate fire mage.
Originally I had a lot more to say, but I guess not. Huh.
