FE14: Guerilla War, Plz

I'd kind of like the next FE to be a "small scale" guerilla-style war instead of "continental/intercontinental epic" warfare.

But not like FE7, because having to hew to FE6's canon AND GBA-era gameplay opened too many plotholes and gameplay moments of silly, IMO.

Also, while I'm not bowled over by FE7, this has to be the most amazing, incredible, astonishing piece of wank in FE meta.  I think the TC usually has his head up his ass, but GOOD LORD, people.

I feel that good debate can only happen when the objective for its participants is not one-upping the other guy.

SF culture is rather opposed to that. Arguing there is a sport meant to be won. (I think they used to have argument tournaments in which people played devil's advocate.)

SF and FESS, its predecessor, have that in common. One of many reasons why I never go to SF.

If I have 11,000 words of anything, it should be 'fic, not a forum post.

It's probably a little sad that the thing that bugs me the most about the OP of that topic is how wrong the guy is about FE6.

Wolt? "Officially" in his 20s? That had to be an uncomfortable 5+ years for Rebecca, given he and Roy are milk-brothers. I mean, ouch.

This is the same dude whose gacked-up list of comprehensive archetypes includes Erk as a "Merric" and Clarine as a "Maria," so I haven't taken his analysis seriously in years. I can come up with my own stuff, thanks.

Mr Sparkles said what I wanted to say in the first reply. But it's this that always comes up, and always gets me:

- Who said FE had to make sense?

- It's a series renowned for its plot and storytelling capabilities. Not to mention the RPG genre is heavily plot-based.

Has no one in this fandom played a real RPG? I admit I didn't read the entire thread, because sweet holy Jesus indeed. 31 pages?

I'm constantly amazed people can still discuss this game.

There are plenty of people in FE fandom who haven't played the FE games they rave about. If you don't know the difference between Aless and Eltoshan, then I'm not going to give your praise of FE4 much weight. If you don't know that Sigurd DIES halfway through, I really won't give your analysis much weight. And I've seen both such scenarios.

I think, coming from forums, this is why I had to consciously get used to the concept of people pointing out flaws in things they like: because of people like this going "YOU SHOULD NOT LIKE THIS AND HERE IS WHY." Seriously, if people enjoying this game's (admittedly somewhat flimsy) story drove this guy to grumble for 11K words... there are probably more significant problems he needs to attend to that don't involve unironically pointing out everything that doesn't make sense in a Nintendo game.

Also SF worshiping Jugdral at the expense of the other games? Stop the presses! btw, thinking a story is more mature simply because it involves taboo material is a pretty obvious hallmark of immaturity, last I checked. :/

He's a pretty prominent wanker. As I said above, he's the dude with the exhaustive and cockeyed list of "archetypes" that breaks down because he tries to fit every damned character into a hole, whether they fit or not.

I think FE4's plot is pretty damned good, but not because of the incest. And I think FE7's isn't much cop at all, but lack of incest and child sacrifice aren't on my list of criteria.
