Another Meme / Crack Idea for Remake

What if IS really did remake FE4, except it was a extensive retooling like FE12 and they kept rolling with the MyUnit concept... and let a player-created character join in the babymaking?

How badly would that upset people?

I mean, obviously a lot of fans would dig it, given all the MU/Tiki, MU/Nono, MU/Krom, MU/Sumia, and MU/Frederick and more already out there on the internets.  Canon purists would die choking on hairballs about it, but... IDK, man.  Not outside the realm of possibility, especially now that I think the Archanea/Valencia angle has been truly beat to death.

The MU idea would probably bother me a lot if it were put into somewhere I felt the characters were really well-developed. I. . . don't feel that way about Jugdral, aha.

Hah hah, yeah. Well, it might also allow to correct some weirdo game mechanics (Lex and Finn being unable to pass down axes and lances to their kids) and maybe introduce new things like playable dark magic in FE4. It's not something I'm opposed to at this point.

Why I like them: Um... he's really sweet?

Why I don't: Azel has too much of the squish factor going on for me, and for the most part I'm not thrilled by his main relationships (Lex, Tiltyu, the crush on Adean). I mostly like him in relation to his brother.

Favorite episode/scene: I think I prefer him in the Fujimori manga so far.

Favorite outfit: No preference, really.

OTP: Tiltyu, I guess. He likes her... he can have her!

Non-romantic OTP: With Lex. It does have potential as a really moving friendship. It's just usually done in too hyper a manner for me.

Headcanon: I do go with the idea that he was taken in by Alvis and stayed with Big Brother until he died. That's the most interesting phase of his life to me. Also, I think he's the father of Tiltyu's kids, because I can't imagine Tinny the moe-blob being sired by anyone more assertive than Azel.

Unpopular opinion: I don't love him or his pairings to bits. I don't dislike him, but he doesn't excite me all by himself.

A wish for them: I hope he's satisfied with his decisions re: Big Brother.

An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen-for-them: I hope he wouldn't find out what happened to Tiltyu and the kids... and that Alvis's people aren't cruel enough to make Azel witness the executions of any of his friends. :/

5 words to best describe them: Sweet, squishy, hopeful, dependent... family-oriented.

A nickname for them: AzelBaby. Tumblr is to blame.

For the My Unit stuff, I imagine that it would get a mixed reaction as you suggest. The concept of having a way to insert yourself into the story seems to have been overall well-received by fandom and, given that they're repeating it with FE13, I don't necessarily see this new gimmick going anywhere any time soon unless it ends up seriously bombing in this next installment. You're right though that it's almost certain that some fans would be very unhappy. I honestly don't have much of an opinion either way personally, but that's because I'm not terribly invested in Jugdral. :P

It's definitely not outside the realm of possibility though should there be a remake. As I said, I don't see this particular gimmick going anywhere any time soon.

Me either. IDK. With Archanea/Valencia all wrapped up (I think), and Judgral apparently being featured in the FE13 stewpot, a remake just seems more likely than it did to me earlier. It could actually be a good thing. FE4, for all its glorious reputation, has major problems in scripting.

I could definitely see a remake happening, but we'll see. I'm not sure if FE13 is indicative of anything though, especially given that there seemed to be a lot of things included the FE13 stewpot. Besides, given the focus on Archanea, it might make more sense to switch focus to Valencia which has mostly been ignored (Unless I missed something in my absence.) and given that FE2 includes characters from Archanea and popular ones at that (Palla, Catria, and Est obviously), I wonder if they might try to exploit that at all. I won't hold my breath though.

The real question here is would a remake fix those scripting problems or make them worse? Many game companies are not as careful with continuity as they should be. :P

Cain, then.

Why I like them-- the FE11 Prologue made me adore Cain. I liked him already in FE3, but his backstory as the last survivor of a massacre was heart-rending.
Why I don't-- Could've done more with him. Much more.
Favorite episode/scene-- FE11 Prologue.
Favorite outfit-- TGC, un-promoted. Not that he's bad promoted in it.
OTP-- I don't have one.
Non-romantic OTP-- With Abel and Marth.
Headcanon-- Becomes Marth's key advisor (screw FE12), advises Marth's heir in turn, and generally runs Altea for decades.
Unpopular opinion-- I don't like it when he's portrayed as a goofball just because some later Red Cavs were goofy
A wish for them-- I hope he makes peace with Abel, even if it's just in his own heart.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen-for-them-- I think the aftermath of the conquest of Altea by Archanea was probably a very dark time for Cain. Marth entrusted him with Altea, and he lost it, and he didn't know where Marth was, and it was like the massacre in '02 all over again only worse. Some people might have given up at that point, and he didn't. I kind of see Cain as able to take just about anything after FE3.
5 words to best describe them-- that's hard. Loyal, dependable... stubborn... resilient (not the same as stubborn, after all)... but moody.
A nickname for them-- he is the Great Bull. End of story.

Characterization is my main problem. Gen 1 isn't great and Gen 2 is even worse, IMO. Also, Sigurd/Diadora is a mess of a main pairing.

The Mark Dynasty in another game? Heh. Genie's out of the bottle, I suppose, and I don't see it going back in any time soon. People love having their avatars. If it happened to FE4 (which I suppose would then become FE14, by our numbering), hey, at least that means we'd get FE4.

Why I like them-- AMAZING unit in FE11. Looks good in most of his art barring FE1. And dammit, it's awesome to see that Kaga had the balls to have a virtuous character fall from grace and a "perfect" couple fall to pieces.
Why I don't-- More character development in FE11 would've been nice. And the dialogue I've seen translated from FE12 troubles me.
Favorite episode/scene-- He was just about the only decent thing in the anime.
Favorite outfit-- TCG art for real.
OTP-- AU Abel/Palla.
Non-romantic OTP: Abel and Cain forever. I can even see this being "friends with benefits" but I think Abel's basically straight.
Headcanon: I like to think he found his way back to Altea and found some kind of peace with his old comrades before he died.
Unpopular opinion: Best green cav ever.
A wish for them: Don't marry Est. Don't marry Est. Palla's nice. Palla loves you. DON'T.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen-for-them: Well, if he'd succeeded in killing Marth, and come back to the castle with the deed done only to find Est's electrocuted corpse... yeah.
5 words to best describe them: Here's three. Graceful. Dashing. WEAK, and I don't mean his stats.
A nickname for them: Black Panther will do just fine.

Kaga has a very dark sense of humor, seeing as to how Cain is the faithful one and Abel is the traitor, but I've always got a soft spot for traitors. They tend to be complicated people, and therefore interesting.

I wonder if there's a series tradition for heartache among the Pegasus Sisters? Certainly seems to be.

I don't find Abel all THAT complicated, but he's definitely compelling. Part of it is, he doesn't make one stupid mistake that you can call him out on. He makes a chain of normal, mundane decisions that ANYONE might make, that puts him and Est in a horrible situation. And since he's basically a normal guy beneath the green armor and shiny reputation, he places his wife's welfare first. Many people would... especially when the lord being betrayed isn't even around and has been missing for months. Did he know that the Bad Guys were going to attempt to torture Est to death when he was out fighting? No, and he probably didn't want to think about it. And then neither he or Est could really face the consequences of any of it. :(

I don't personally believe that, say, Cain would act as Abel did, but we don't get to see that scenario. And I'm 100% certain that a character like Finn would pick lord over wife, but that's why Finn's love life is shot to hell in his own world. So it's a no-win situation, really. Poor Abel.

As for Murdock... once seen, it couldn't be unseen. Ammie's fault.
