Thoughts on the Oosawa FE4 Manga

mark_asphodelI'd only glanced over it before because 1) it's long 2) reading manga online irritates me-- without a physical book in my hands it's hard to skim the boring stuff. I plowed through a bunch of it this weekend, though.
Takeaways:
Most of the guys are so pretteh, in a distinctly 90s way, that I find them laughable. Sigurd, Elto... lay off the mascara. Levin's acceptable.
Cuaaaaaaan. My overwhelming favorite of the three main Gen 1 guys. I like his design better and he just seems more competent and perceptive than the other two. Except for that blind spot regarding the Gae Bolg...
I like Briggid so much more than her twin that it's not funny.
Sorry, I kind of have a soft spot for Trabant, and the manga isn't helping any. With so many of the other villains being cartoons, he really stands out.
But anyone I didn't like before I still don't like. Sorry, Lex and Ayra. Sorry, Jamka. Not sorry, Tiltyu.
I have come to detest manga conventions. Here we are, going through this Serious Story with beheadings and betrayals and everyone coming to grief, and it's speckled with sweatdrops and facefaults and gag panels right smack there in the main narrative.
Also, the Finn/Lachesis subplot was giving me Utena flashbacks. In between Incestuous Little Sister clinging to the coffin, the whole business with the rose, and the whole business with the, ah, stabbing...
[And that was some OMGWTF, even with the Earth Sword being shown off earlier in a Chekov's Gun kinda way.]
This scanlation left off at 33. Where's the rest of it?
