Absolutely not enough appreciation of Finn out there on the Internets.
Recommended fanfic: "Fathers and Sons" by TwinMoons. Negative as hell, from the perspective of his son. Also the second-oldest FE story in the FFNet archive.
Official Art:
Little Finn, from the Super Tactics book. Lower left-hand corner, obviously.
Concept artwork. He turned out a bit different in the final release, eh?
Official Thracia art. The one on the horse. Awesome.
Little Finn, TCG. Based off one of the artbook images; I do not like the way this artist drew him as an adult. Something was really weird about his neck.
Different TCG series, in a style similar to the way the FE3 characters were depicted.
All grown up and ready to kick some ass.
Grown up again, from the TCG promotional cards.
Gorgeous TCG image with far more detailed and elaborate clothing than usual. He's got a proto-Ephraim vibe here. If you click on nothing else, click on this one.
Apparently he beat out four hot chicks to win some kind of character poll.
What a photogenic family. The woman's Evayle, who is a) secretly someone else b) not dating Finn and c) not the mother of either of those kids. This also makes Nanna look older, or at least significantly taller, than Leaf.
With Cuan and Ethlin in happier times. I assume Finn is the moppet with the lance, and Glade is glomping him.
With baby Leaf as Lenster's castle falls.
Leaf and his posse are going to kill you. And then Celice will have to bail his ass out of trouble. Or something.
Fanarts:
I first encountered Finn via some NSFW stuff on Deviant Art that showed him gettin' it on with Lachesis. At the time, I didn't know who he was, and they merely, ah, piqued my interest.
These are not those pictures. These are SFW.
Finn with Lachesis.
More cutesy Finn/Lachesis.
Unrequited Finn/Cuan comic. Usually anything with a master/pupil vibe skeeves me out, but this is one case where i'm willing to consider it. Couple the "cold with women" accusation with a devotion to Cuan that is amazing even by Fire Emblem standards... yeah, OK. Also, Finn's old enough to be potentially making babies in Gen 1, so he's legal.
After a battle, with Ethlin and Cuan. Must-see.
One big happy (doomed) family.
All by himself.
Looks like Finn and Lachesis in modern Japan.
Modern something else. I think that's his buddy Glade again.
I like this one. It seems to have an appropriately awkward vibe.
Little Altenna has a crush.
Finn and Lachesis with baby Nanna. Essential.
Family dynamic with Nanna and Delmud.
More family times with Lach and the kids.
I guess I do like knight/princess pairings. But this one is an outlier. She's not your average princess. :D
Hauling Leaf around.
Talking to Lakche about Ayra. You don't HAVE to pair him with Lachesis, after all.
With Leaf. Awww.
I wish I had the one of him in the desert, but I lost it. :(
There is FinnXTrabant artwork out there. I mean, what? No, I don't think so. Not all mortal enemies are in it for the sexytimes.

Date: 2012-02-01 04:35 am (UTC)He has a couple of nice little scenes with Cuan in the early chapters, but first-gen Fin isn't very exciting. He's earnest and sweet and dutiful and Cuan obviously has a soft spot for him (personally giving him weapons upgrades!), and that's about it. It's second-gen that he gets interesting, with the whole Thracia-liberation plotline and finding Altenna.
You might read the script to Thracia 776, actually. It has such a tight focus compared with 4, and better characterization IMO, and Finn has scenes with his BFF Glade, Glade's wife Selphina, and others (including Leaf, of course). And Leaf is such a sweetie. I mean it when I say that, of all the main characters, he has the most instantly likable personality (IMO). Also, Eyvel rocks. A lot of characters rock.
Plus FE5 has Asvel running around in his shorty-skirt.

Date: 2012-02-01 09:29 pm (UTC)Two more things I like about Finn.
1) He remembers his place. Rather critical when dealing with the "devoted knight" archetype. He's apparently making out with a princess, his daughter's a princess, and his son-in-law is the king of Thracia and the first cousin of Emperor Celice. And Finn remains... Finn. He never tries to take credit for Leaf or co-opt him in a way that well, normal people would. He doesn't try to capitalize on the connection.
2) That's one weird knight/princess pairing. Not only is Lachesis a very unconventional princess (even if you ignore the Beowulf angle, there's still the whole Eltoshan thing to contend with), but it's blindingly apparent that Finn put his duties to Leaf above his own love life. Even if said love was the mother of his own daughter.
These do not make him necessarily cuddly, but I like him better as a character for it.
