Breaking News re: FE13
Dec. 26th, 2011 09:06 pmNintendo's first foray into paid DLC is going to be... FE13.
NeoGAF discussion here, GameFAQs discussion here. I found out through NeoGAF myself.
Without any details, it's pretty much impossible for me to form an opinion; I'm guessing it'll be DLC extra chapters like they offered for FE12, but people are already fantasizing about being able to buy "resurrections" or purchase their favorite characters from previous games.
Also, this confirms a March release date in Japan for Krom and his posse.
ETA: April 19, actually. Why the DLC is going live before the game comes out is beyond me.

Actually, there's something very funny about the idea of Fire Emblem DLC. It just doesn't fit my conception of the game series. It's like pasting trollface onto Elphin.

I had really mixed feelings about the DLC chapters for FE12; on the one hand, additional world-building material for Archanea is nice, but the stuff they came up with had the same "fanfiction" feel as the other new stuff in FE12, at least given the partial translations I saw. I have no attachment to Krom and his world, but even if IS just keeps to their prior course, the DLC may not be exactly, well, tasteful.
I just don't particularly trust the instincts of IS at present.
