Sleeping Beauty, Again

Reading about that new "Sleeping Beauty" film, which after all revisits a fairy tale I find endlessly disturbing, makes me want to write some kind of genuinely inverted take on the story. Something with an active female molesting acting upon a passive/comatose/dead male character. Just out of sheer perversity, you know?
Suggestions welcome. It's a burr under the saddle to me at present.

Date: 2011-12-05 11:33 pm (UTC)Also, your Sleeping Beauty reversal story idea reminds me of a movie I read about back in the 90's... I think it was about the shy daughter of a funeral director, who liked to
feel upcaress the bodies of the male corpses (although this was supposed to be portrayed as fascination with the male body, rather than outright necrophilia). No idea what the title was, though...no subject

Date: 2011-12-06 04:13 am (UTC)Yeah, but that would go against the conceit of having the female be the actor/aggressor in this particular re-telling. And Raphi kind of already gave me all the Ephraim squickage I can handle in one calendar year.

Date: 2011-12-06 05:44 pm (UTC)I really loved the Disney version of the fairy tale growing up. Then I heard all the other versions. :/
Any speculation I have on a reversal would probably err toward original fic instead, and I like that Innes idea...

Date: 2011-12-07 09:41 pm (UTC)The thing that almost makes sense about the movie is the very criticism that the main character just kind of sleepwalks through life being acted upon, because that's exactly what the original Sleeping Beauty character did. Or didn't do.
