I feel sort of bad for ditching my subversive good-characters-doing-terrible-things prompt for one that's about an overt antagonist. But some things just click like that.

Yeah... well, write that first idea anyway, even if it's after the contest!

Honestly, I feel like it'd work better for the contest. The issue is that the fic isn't clicking on some level that my gut knows about but my head doesn't.

My best working explanation is "It's too pretentious" but I think that's not quite it.

The other fic has a lot of, mm, emotional coherency? I have a really good feeling about it -- a good feeling I get really rarely. I had it with Imagine and not much else for anything I wrote after '09. Ether, maybe.
