I cheated. Instead of meta, I've uploaded the first chapter in my headcanon take on how Artemis and Anri might have encountered one another, fallen in love, etc.
Chapter One is here.
This thing is so packed with headcanon it's not funny.
Artemis: I made her an archer; she carries the Parthia bow, which of course is the holy weapon you get first in both FE1/11 and FE3/12. She is born in the year 488 for the purposes of this story, making her fifteen at its outset.
Phoebus: her elder brother, heir to Archanea. A somewhat reckless youth who wields the Gradius lance, he rides out against Dolhr with a handful of men in hopes of an improbable victory.
King of Archanea: Father of Artemis and Phoebus, carries the Mercurius sword.
Sister Irene: Cleric serving the town of Altea; with her sons, she runs her late husband's mallow farm on the riverbanks.
Anri: Eldest son of Irene, aged fourteen in the opening chapter.
Marcellus and Azriel: Twins ten years Anri's junior, born after the death of the family's two daughters... and shortly before the death of Irene's husband.
A bard: A green-haired man who tells tales of the ancient war against the Lopts.
Altea: a "developing town" on an island off the southern coast of Archanea. The "healing rose" or marsh-mallow, formally known as Altea, grows in the wet soil of its riverbanks. The town's economy depends on this plant.

Date: 2011-09-18 04:32 am (UTC)I wanted something "Old Testament" ending in "-l" because I wanted something that would prefigure Jiol, so immediately I thought of angels. Gabriel and Raphiel and Uriel weren't what I wanted, but "Azrael" was too... cliche. You know, way to go Mark, make the Bad Brother the Angel of Death. But I looked up the variant Azriel and its mythical connotations, weighed the tendency of Fire Emblem to play Captain Obvious or Captain Inappropriate with names, and decided to go for it.
