mark_asphodel 98,043 words. Across 11 one-shots, one completed novella, four WIPs, and one drabble. And that's just what I posted. Not bad for the first year, eh?
Seriously, taking the plunge into active fandom again proved a richly rewarding experience. Some brief thoughts, possibly clouded by hard cider:
It's hard for me to rate and categorize the 'fics, because I really do still stand by everything I've posted, so singling out a most satisfying or most disappointing work isn't really possible yet. I am so far disappointed by my WIPs inasmuch as they are not completed yet, and I hope to fix that in 2010. "Love is Not a Victory March" kind of stuns me in that I finished the 27K-word monster that it evolved into. Ditto "The Time Remaining," which could easily have been either confusing as hell or just schlocky Poe-wannabe horror, and instead made a couple of readers cry (yay). Probably the most sublime writing experience was "The Golden Age," though-- the idea was so out-on-a-limb, and all came together so neatly, and the writing process was distinctly less labored than usual. Whereas "By Any Other Name" and "Forsaken" took many months of pecking and pondering before I could finish them.
Popularity-wise, aside from "Heaven's Blessings Upon Us," which took off like a rocket, my most consistently popular works are "The End of Love" and "The Time Remaining." I still suspect the highlighted presence of the most well-known character from FE3/11 has more to do with this than anything. Also, "The End of Love" is really short, by my standards.
Er... I don't have anything more profound to say, so I'l shout-out to all my friends who have made this a very cool fandom to be a part of. And I still think anyone who bothers to read "Twilight of Aurelis" and/or "An Extension of the Weapon" deserves a hug for trying something different.
