Evil Cupcake Update

 So.

Faygo Cupcakes.

The Red Pop ("Strawberry") one was pretty good.  Probably the best thing I've had from that bakery, even if it wasn't freshly baked.  The Orange one was fine; my most excellent spouse described it as "inoffensive."

The Grape one... well, when I was a kid, I loved "grape" flavored stuff, mostly because it was purple and I'm old enough that I remember a time before blue-colored kiddie food was widely available.  When I was seven-and-a-half we went to the Grand Canyon and I got a stick of grape off-brand Chapstick ("Chap-et") from a gas station, which I treasured for some years thereafter.  If I could resurrect that chapstick and mash it into some Play-dough, that might approximate the texture and scent of the icing on these violently violet little cakes.  That thing was vile.  I ate one quarter of a fairly small cupcake and felt nauseated for at least an hour thereafter.  It was not food.

I am, as you might have noticed, fairly adventurous with food on both the high-end and the bargain-basement end of the quality spectrum.  Grape Faygo Cupcakes are the nastiest thing I have tried in quite some time.

When I hear "Faygo" I think of ICP, and now I'm picturing juggalos eating cupcakes. Cannot decide if this is awesome or terrible. Perhaps both.

By the way, is there anything specific you wanted feedback on in your stories?

Yeah, the ICP taint on the cult of Faygo was hard for me to take when I first moved to Michigan.

Hell, anything. Characterization of the FE8 gang, mostly. (Or the FE7 cameos). Plotting. Historical fidelity, if your sphere of history-geeking covers it. For a project this long and this... odd... any sort of feedback is appreciated. :D

Does it just taste like regular fruit soda?

I'll reread it tomorrow - I faved mainly so I wouldn't forget to after skimming this morning - and then I'll post a review. From what I saw, though, it looked good <3

I've always found artificial grape flavour to be disgusting. Even now, I pretty much hate it.

Not gonna lie though, strawberry Faygo was probably my absolute favorite when I was a kid--it still is, actually. Followed by the orange.

...Purple food is usually pretty gross, for example, we had these purple jellybeans that seriously tasted just like kerosene. It was about the nastiest crap ever. So purple candy? I am wary of. :U

Faygo cupcakes sound...interesting. I think I'll stick with regular cupcakes. x3

ALSO I did not forget about reviewing your 'fic. Until the Sun Cries Morning has been open in a tab for forever. I am just lazy as sin. Fear not, for I will get to it. And the other five or six 'fics I really need to read. Probably this week, 'cause I feel I need to crack down.

I've tried root beer cupcakes, and I've gone so far as making a huge layer cake with Sprite in place of all liquids and fat, but... something seems wrong about grape soda cupcakes. That's a flavor that only tastes good carbonated. To me, at least. Nobody has nailed grape flavoring for some reason.

Actually-- I take that back. There are these Japanese muscat gummy candies that do a decent job. It'd still taste awful in cake, though.

Those muscat gummies are divine. But yeah, not a cake flavor in the slightest.

Grape flavor is so nasty to me these days that I wonder how I ever could have gravitated towards it.

Haha, no worries. I'll let you know if I think it does, but since I was one of those kids who obsessively read my entire history book in the first two weeks of 8th grade American History... Well, that's okay. :P
