Fic Update: "Unbreakable"
May. 2nd, 2012 11:30 pmBleh. Got some kind of stomach bug. Don't know if it stemmed from ill-advised food choices, or what, but my attention span is shot right now.

raphiael requested the little squish mage. I don't really love Azel as he is in-game, but I like the idea of him, especially with the possibilities he offers after Barhara. That Azel would either be taken in by Alvis after the battle and "rehabilitated" or would decide after some years of resistance that Alvis was at least worth talking to both provide some really interesting avenues for his character.
I refuse to endorse the idea that he was put into a magical sleep and stashed away in the secret basement of the palace. Come on, now.
Anyway, I started thinking of how "reformed" Azel might spend his days during the good years of Alvis's reign, before little Julius was given that nasty book as a present. At first, I figured Alvis might kind of treat Azel as a sort of permanent child/pet-- cherishing him but never letting him do much or interact with anyone. Poor squishbaby clearly goes astray so easily. So I worked a bit on a semi-plotless, impressionistic kind of 'fic depicting Azel's extended twilight.
