Food Update and FE_Fest wibbles
Feb. 9th, 2011 04:07 pm So, a while ago I experimented with chocolate-chunk sourdough French Toast, which didn't work so well. When my most excellent spouse scored a day-old loaf of chocolate-chunk challah, also from Zingerman's ovens, I decided it was time to redeem myself with the breakfast deities. This time around I adapted Alton Brown's recipe for French Toast, adding vanilla (because I love vanilla) and skipping the step where the fried bread goes in the oven.
The results? Tender bread pieces with lacy brown exteriors, perfumed with honey and vanilla, studded with gooey chunks of dark chocolate. Oh, yeah. Much better.

Somehow, my "Band AU"
fe_fest piece has mutated from a character piece analyzing the dynamics in my four-man band of Ephraim, Lyon, Innes, and Joshua to a thing wherein Amelia, Neimi, Lute, and Vanessa show up to fangirl said band. Well, Lute's not fangirling so much, but... you know.
Meh.
Also trying very hard not to make the piece a world-spanning mashup, in part because the idea of Eliwood-Hector-and-Lyn as a power trio is awfully cute.
Justin Bieber!Roy is also a good bad idea, though the idea of Eliwood and Roy at equivalent ages at the same point in the space-time fabric raises more questions than I ever want to answer. And no, I'm not making them brothers.
