Moon Pies

So, after my three-hundred-thirty mile roundtrip commute today (yes, five and a half hours in the car), I decided to get my own back, in a sense.  As I was passing my a certain "Roadhouse" anyway, and said establishment is Too Far to head there on an ordinary day, I went and grabbed some sandwiches for dinner.  Very nice sandwiches, mind you (and I am no fan of subs), but my ulterior motive was to check out the baked goods.  I wanted some savory biscuits (cheese 'n' herb or cheese 'n' bacon), but they were out, but I did score a day-old loaf of Chocolate Sourdough and the house version of the Moon Pie.

It was divine.  In my investigation of the current cupcake/whoopie pie/macaron trend, I have tasted a lot of sickly-sweet and not very nice baked goods.  (Did I post about the cupcakes in Austin?  Those weren't very good, either.  Though the chocolate-ginger cookie was fabulous.)  This thing, OTOH, was perfect-- excellent cake/cream ratio, not too sweet, not too greasy, nice texture, and simply delicious.  My most excellent spouse said he could have eaten the entire thing by himself (we split one) and he is rather picky about such things.

Was going to post a Nyna/Camus meta thing, but I think I need a nap.
