Writing Wibbles, Again
Mar. 6th, 2010 04:28 pm Wow, it's been an FE1/2/3/11 'fic explosion around here of late. In relative terms, of course.
So, I've committed myself to a piece about Michalis; it's something I've been meaning to write for a while, as it "answers" a couple of questions about Michalis that have nagged me, but the prompt has caused it to twine in a slightly different direction from where I originally intended.
One of the interesting things about Michalis is that he says outright he "doesn't believe in gods." This is not the same thing as an Elibean character deciding that Elimine and her church are full of it. Given the nature of the "gods" in Archanea and their role in practical magic, if we take the denials of Michalis at face value, he's saying something that attacks the very foundation of human civilization (as engineered by the ever-helpful divine dragons). So, to get inside the Prince of Macedon's head, either I have to crack open battered copies of Nietzsche, or I need to decide that his statement doesn't quite mean that he thinks the fire gods, wind gods, and such are hokum.
Anyway, stay tuned....
