I've stumbled across some mild FE13 spoilers whilst looking for information on the DLC content.

This one was the most amusing... to me, anyway.

"Apparently Mark is also a girl's name in the world of FE..." (Spoiler contained within the link!)

Damn skippy.

-x-

Now, regarding the DLC, which is already the cause for fanbase whining (free characters and the NPC cameos don't look good enough, blah blah).

While some oh-so-knowing fans predicted over on tumblr that characters in non-FE13 classes wouldn't be included, IS did what I expected them to do based on prior history (like, say, the FE6 trial maps featuring Eliwood and Hector in their pre-Lord incarnations).  They shoehorned characters into the next best thing.  So Sigurd and Cuan both become paladins, as their respective Knight Lord and Duke Knight classes are not relevant here.  Now, if another character in a non-FE13 class is offered as paid DLC, they might get a special class like Spirit!Marth, who is classed as a "Star Lord" (yay).  And thus far, Spirit!Marth is the only such character we have information on.  Everyone else is a SpotPass freebie or an NPC in the map where you get Spirit!Marth, and guess what-- the free stuff ain't gonna be crafted at the same level of detail as the stuff Nintendo expects to get money for.

Now, this did result in the chicks getting offensively nerfed.  Lachesis and Nanna have become Troubadours without swords.  Cellica, whose swords-n-magic class exists in FE13 as "Strategist," becomes a mere Mage.  Ethlin and Elincia can't use swords, either.  Seeing a pattern here?  Kind of annoying, but not really worth frothing about.  I do think it's a little cheap that the Spirit!Marth map requires you to beat up on squishy magic chicks who can't defend themselves they way they could in their own games, but maybe they're all at high levels and it won't be a cakewalk to take them on.  But again-- it's all a lark isn't it?  I mean, if I have to purchase Lachesis, she'd better be a Master Knight and not a staff-locked Troubadour.  But this is the free stuff for lulz and warm fuzzies.

Yeah, it's annoying, but. . . hey, they're not the point, it looks like.

My thought was, well, maybe they're going with one "main" character of each "saga" being paid DLC? But then I saw Ike, and that pretty much kills that theory.

It'd be pretty weird if they had both, I'd think. But. . . yeah, with Sigurd and Ike and all those female lords are there, I really do hope not.

I can already sense epic crossover 'fic, or at least attempts at it, in the future.

And congrats! You're in the game. :-)
