Fic Update: "Things We Lost In The Fire"
This one has actually been completed for quite some time. A specific incident in March propelled me to write it, and it was all done and ready to upload before I had second thoughts about it. Something didn't quite work in the translation from my head to the screen, and so I just let it sit. But I hate hate hate officially abandoning 'fics, and so after running it by Raphi (I'd credit her as a beta, but any spelling and grammatical errors are all on me, so I'll credit her with "support"), I decided to go ahead and release it. There's a brand-new self insert FE7 thingy up there on the Pit, so who am I to be behindhand?
This one follows the timeline laid out in the Illustrated Works artbook, the one that doesn't jive with either game but does map to some of Kaga's old pre-FE4 notes. Leaf's peregrinations during the time skip evolved from "they hid out in a village" per FE4 to "they were in Alster and crap hit the fan and they went to Tahra and crap hit the fan and oh yeah Fiana" per FE5, and I presume that Fiana itself was derived from the "village" Leaf mentions in FE4. Then the artbook throws in Frest, which isn't even on the FE5 maps and I think is only mentioned in Asvel's character ending... and the artbook has Lachesis there up through the beginning of the Tahra years, which doesn't match the game scripts no way no how.
[There are times when I suspect that the game staff themselves were having a shipwar of sorts, and this is one of them.]
Frest is interesting in that the citizens decide they don't like rebel fugitives in their midst and so Finn/Lache and the kids get ratted out to the Empire. Another nice bit of FE-style "your fight sure as hell isn't our fight" realism.
PS: Yeah, that's a little hint that Noishe was fond of Lachesis. I do like their Chapter 5 conversation,,, or I like Noishe in it, anyway.

Re: TRS. Well, it was supposed to be contemporary to the Marth games, and Kaga hinted that FE characters would appear in it before Nintendo's lawyers told him "Hell, no." So it's interesting to go through the portraits and imagine who was originally a genuine FE person and not an expy. But anyone from Jugdral would have to be 1000 years old or a "simulacrum," I think, given the timelines.
Runan or whatever his name is sure looks like Leaf, though.
