Once Graceland's management changed (and more-or-less left Priscilla and Lisa Marie with a minimum of creative control, which incidentally opened up more of the touristy things Graceland has done...a surprising feat) it seems a lot of the stuff under the Graceland banner has changed. There was a big hullabaloo about the mark-up for Elvis merch in the area a year or so back, and they started policing how the Elvis impersonators are allowed to gather around the area during Elvis Week. I'm honesty not surprised they're dropping the Heartbreak Hotel, even though it seems like the name is kind of the *thing*, but whatever.
As Elvis' fans are dying out Graceland is going the way of Loretta Lynn's Ranch and has become mostly a museum for a performer our parents(and their parents) used to like. An icon, yeah, but one who has lost a lot of relevance and will only continue to do so with new generations.
