Of all the things that irk me about tumblr I think I hate the glib little Communists the most.
Like yeah, the anti-Semites and the 'hatred is okay if you're punching up' people are worse but god damn am I annoyed by the Communists.
PS: some of the punching up people are the anti-Semites which tells me what I need to know about the validity of 'punching up.'

1) Defining Jews as either white people or POC depending on what point the agitator is trying to make. How convenient that European Jews are POC during the Holocaust but their descendants are suddenly white oppressors when it comes to modern feminist infighting.
2) Blaming all Jews because of whatever shit Bibi Netanyahu's been up to this week. Basically the flip side to "any criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic," which itself makes me want to scream.
3) A more subtle version of the above in which anti-Semitism is cloaked in "fighting white oppression" or "combating Islamophobia." Distinctly modern SJ.
4) Minimizing anti-Jewish terrorism, particularly evident in the way the Hyper Cacher attacks got covered. Made me want to puke.
5) Black Jesus Was The Real Jesus and other distinctly Afrocentric attacks on Jewishness.
6) Old-school bullshit like the Bilderberg Group and lizard people conspiracy theories, obviously not unique to tumblr.
Blech.

How do you not unfollow everyone.

If I unfollowed everyone on tumblr who'd ever offended me over an ill-considered reblog (political, not fandom) my dash would be all Breaking Bad fanart. There are a couple of nice sweet people in FE fandom, one US and one Canadian, who've reblogged some very SJ posts that were disturbing as hell, ranging from Ferguson-era calls to burn down businesses "that deserved it" to some anti gay-marriage shit from the "Stay Woke" crowd. Do I think they personally feel that way? Hell no. But clearly not everyone reads or absorbs things in the heat of the moment, when they're reblogging some call to action. Same goes for a pro-Palestinian or anti-Islamophobia post where I scroll down and say to myself "what the shit is this?"
The shitty OPs and thread hijackers are shitty, of course, but I think the rebloggers mostly mean well and just didn't... process.

I agree, though, that most people just aren't thinking when they reblog that stuff. Or they see the general thing and think it's not saying what it is saying...? Something like that.
