I've always been interested in myths, though I don't know much about the mythological canons other than "classical" mythology. Myths were created to explain natural phenomenon, and they expressed cultural values, but I wonder how they were regarded by their target audience. On a side note, the image of FE!Finn biting someone's finger off is so out of character that it goes beyond amusing all the way to disturbing. I think you're right-at some point, we have to stop matching the characters and their names.
