I legitimately cannot understand how people were so married to these characters pre-release, because yeah, all the supports I looked at ranged from bland to terrible. But I think it wasn't so much text as it was "teh hawt", given when the fandom started. I guess what's skeeving me now is the people still attached to the imaginary versions they'd invented based on fan translations + art + fandom.
