I'm reminded of how both Final Fantasy X and Xenogears ended with "whups, turns out god is a lie/is evil, let's kill the bastard," with some associated existential angst—Chrono Cross had a bit of this too, now that I think of it. But like raphi mentioned earlier, in FE, defeating Ashera isn't treated as being dramatically different than defeating any other villain.
