More Random FE13 babble

Some of the supports actually feature character development (not backstory-- development), including cross-generational development.  That's nice.  Roughly half the characters seem pretty meh or annoying at present, though.

Speaking of cross-generational...

Of course you're a comrade, and you're also the daughter of my close friend.

And that's why you shouldn't be on the verge of knocking boots with her, MyUnit.  Man, what a thrill-inducing pickup line that is, too.  I don't think I'd mind nearly as much if it weren't the self-insert speaking... or if said self-insert weren't the only "Gen 1" character able to breed with "Gen 2" which seems like making deliberate exceptions for maximum fan-person gratification.

I am tickled by the fact that MyUnit can marry Anna and have a little time-traveling Markette with her.  I plan on using that MU pairing, I think.  It fits my views of canon.

Hypothesis: I'm guessing that "Mark" (that's MyUnit's little moonbat child) ends up in Elibe with amnesia after a time-portal mishap.  I think I'd actually like to see some FE7 'fic with FE13!Mark's characterization-- seriously, the kid is a space cadet.

Yeah, in honesty? It's not even the special snowflake attributes of tacticians that get me at this point. Are they annoying? Sure, but it's a symptom of the more widespread problem - fandom as a whole just has no idea how to make "Mark" interesting. So all the super-sparkly powers/pairings/weapons/origins get piled on in attempt to do something different, and yet they're all still boring.

I suspect, given Sturgeon's Law, most things that draw from FE13 will just latch onto any "special" attributes offered and ignore the rest, but any chance of some things using it to improve is great.
