Expiation: (n) an act of atonement

All right, boys and girls: I wrote a Tactician story.  Mostly to get the damned idea on the page and out of my head forever.

Since I decided that FE12's new additions were mostly a turn-off, I'd been toying with the idea of drop-kicking "Chris" into Elibe and have him become "Mark" just to get rid of the fucker.  The problem with that was, Mr. Gary Stu My Unit can literally use any weapon that isn't locked to a specific character.  So I'd have to deprive Chris of his canonical fighting ability... or have a fighting Tactician.  The first option offered Too Much Angst, and the second was annoying.  

Then I remembered Chris's sidekick/love interest, the treacherous little puppet of a tactician manque.  A treacherous little puppet of a tactician manque who gets told in no uncertain terms by the resident messiah that she's got some atoning to do.  Nature and timeline of said atonement left entirely up in the air.

I detest that scene in FE12.  Detest.  Both for regurgitating the Horace recruitment in FE11, which was much better drama, and for featuring Marth at his most un-relatable and dislikable.  And also because Katarina gets a big slushy scene when Abel gets the shaft.

So, take angsty little Katarina (who was canonically abused to the extent that I sincerely doubt she's going to be "all better" anytime soon), add some Anna ex machina, and at long last we have an FE12/FE7 Tactician tie-in.  Yay.

One of the initial sparks for all this was when penandpaper71 pointed out that the CG of Marth thanking Chris was uncomfortably reminiscent of Lyn's gooey-eyed goodbye to "Mark"

So, yes.  Also, this 'fic happens to feature default female Chris, the spunky myrmidon with the ponytail.  Female!Chris in an implied relationship with Katarina.  And Time Goddess Anna.    

I think that's it for now.  I feel purged of a great uncleanliness.

BTW, still no "Katarina" category on ffnet.
